    FLSA: full-time hourly (nonexempt) position
     
    Summary: The community aging planner coordinates planning initiatives for SourcePoint, facilitating strategic and community planning around aging-related initiatives. This position involves overseeing strategic planning, fostering collaborative relationships with stakeholders, research and development of new business initiatives, and coordination of strategy implementation.
     
    The 55-and-older population of Delaware County more than doubled between 2000 and 2010, and according to the Scripps Gerontology Center at Miami University, this same group is projected to more than double again by 2030, which averages to more than 2,200 additional individuals each year. Older adults are projected to make up over 30% of Delaware County’s population by 2030.
     
    Essential Job Functions
    Plan Development and Implementation (40%)

    • Oversee and facilitate SourcePoint’s 3- to 5-year strategic planning process, acting as liaison among all stakeholders within the planning efforts.
    • Oversee, facilitate, and promote the Delaware County Age-Friendly initiative, ensuring ongoing planning, project management, progress toward community goals, and maintenance of age-friendly designation. Delaware County’s six focus areas include housing, transportation, outdoor spaces and buildings, health and safety, community engagement, and communication and information.
    • Conduct data analysis and community-based research to guide all planning decision making, including regular engagement with AARP’s livable communities network.
    • Report on impact and demonstrate outcomes of strategic and age-friendly plans through monitoring and reporting of key measures and accomplishments at least semi-annually.
     
    Community Awareness, Partnership Building, and Maintenance (30%)
    • Represent Delaware County’s aging planning initiatives with a focus on services, programs, and the World Health Organization’s age-friendly community initiatives, including engaging with events, trainings, and meetings to promote advancement of aging issues.
    • Engage with community initiatives, task forces, and regional planning efforts to guide components of strategic and age-friendly plans.
    • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community stakeholders and the aging services network.
     
    New Business and Community Initiatives (20%)
    • Analyze internal and external data trends to identify aging services gaps, system failures, and growth opportunities within the county.
    • Support the executive team in project management, including planning and implementing new projects, business initiatives, and assuring alignment with projects.
    • Expand community relationships to support new initiatives and persuade partners to integrate age-friendly concepts into other community improvement plans.
    • Research and support leadership in pursuit of new funding opportunities to support new or growing programs and service offerings in line with agency plans.
     
    General Responsibilities (10%)
    • Actively participate in SourcePoint required meetings and events.
    • Pursue and attend training in line with professional development in the role.
    • Maintain a thorough understanding of the programs and services provided and supported by SourcePoint. This includes an understanding of SourcePoint programs, as well as programs supported through partnerships.
     
    Education and Experience
    • A bachelor’s degree in strategic or community planning, urban planning, project management, public administration, public health, social work, human services, or related field required.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship management skills.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Experience and ability to provide public speaking to a variety of audiences.
    • Minimum of two years’ experience in professional practice.
    • Experience with human service programs, specifically those designed to promote healthy aging.
    • Basic knowledge of age-friendly communities, as well as an understanding of emerging issues, trends, and challenges involving the older adult population.
     
    Essential Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer or phone. 
    • Must be able to drive and accommodate a flexible schedule for off-site meetings and special events, including occasional evenings and weekends.
     
    Other
    It is recognized that in any organization, particularly a small organization, it is necessary to assume new responsibilities appropriate to ensure a smooth continuity of operations with the organization.  Not only is the community aging planner required to wear many hats, but it is expected that this person will be familiar with the work of others to the point of being able to fill in on a temporary basis.  It is also anticipated that other organizational needs will emerge from time to time which will be assigned to the planner.
